Dillon (Wizard/Fiendish Monstrous Spider D&D 3.5 CR18)
Dillon was perhaps the cruelest experiment of Taros the Mad, Dillon used to be an apprentice to Taros, and grew quite knowledgeable in the arcane arts. It wasn’t until Taros began researching the secrets of lichdom that Dillon started having second thoughts, may it was time to spread his wings and search for adventure elsewhere, and the crazy Taros surely wouldn’t miss some of his choicest magic items. Dillon hadn’t even made it out of the forest before a power word stun had him wheeling. The next thing he new was waking up in one of Taros’s experimental cages, seeing the world through 8 eyes, and standing on 8 very hairy legs…
Unknown to Dillon, Taros has used Dillon to to be the protector of his phylactery containing his life essence. The phylactery actually replaces Dillon’s heart, this allows Taros some control over his monstrous creation. He can inflict a huge amount of pain on Dillon by focusing his will on the phylactery.
Dillon has managed to keep his spell casting ability, he has found out that by casting a silent tongues spell he is then able to cast all his other spells, thus he always prepares a silent tongues and a spare tongue spell.
Being a gargantuan spider, means that Dillon is nearly always hungry and has now become quite adept at hunting. He likes to use fog cloud to disguise his webs and to make surprise attacks from. He can also use the animate rope spell on webs.
There is a chance that Dillon can be persuaded to help a party, they would have to make a very good diplomacy or similar ability check. He hates Taros for what he has become, but is also very scared of the mad wizard, and on the verge of complete insanity himself, Dillon will not be the first to approach the subject of an alliance.
